1974 Volkswagen pickup truck and Beetle wing moped to be auctioned (9 photos)
Auction Mecum will put up for auction next weekend a combined lot in the form of a restmod pickup truck based on the 1974 Volkswagen T2 and homemade moped made from the wing of an old Volkswagen Beetle. ABOUT the cost of the lot is not specified.
The Volkspod concept was invented in 2019 by engineer Brent Walker. He designed a custom frame, hiding a miniature motor inside and put it on two small wheels. The units were covered with a wing from VW Beetle with an authentic headlight integrated into it and sticking out only steering wheel and seat.
The idea gained popularity, and Volkspod began to actively replicate customizers - for sale, apparently, to Walker has nothing to do with it. It is known that it is equipped with a 223 cc engine, the wheels are borrowed from the kart, and the "bodywork" stylized as a Beetle panel is made of fiberglass.
The moped is attached to the restomod based on the VW T2 pickup truck. Donor Brazilian origin model 1974 completely restored and mounted on 17-inch wheels, adjustable suspension shock absorbers, and in the cab design - new windows. The body is richly decorated chrome, the interior is trimmed in dark pink leather and equipped with a modern media center with Bluetooth protocol.
The pickup truck is driven by a boxer located behind 1.9 liter engine with two carburetors and four-speed "mechanics". The output of the motor is not called.
