Full-size car Peugeot 9x8 from 626,000 Lego bricks assembled in a day (9 photos)
In honor of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the automobile race on endurance of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, LEGO set up a peculiar a record by collecting a full-size copy of the Peugeot 9x8 car in just a day.
In the Lego Technic series, the company is already releasing a smaller copy car Peugeot - the designer consists of 1775 parts. On creation a full-size copy 5.2 meters long and 2.2 meters wide took 626,392 bricks 623 different types. The layout weighs over 900 kilograms.
In order to meet the 24 hour deadline, the Lego building team used a new concept of the so-called "hyperelements" - scaled-up versions of regular Lego pieces assembled from hundreds of standard bricks (average 1.5–2 thousand). Total in the daily marathon 12 employees participated, who worked almost non-stop. The unusual action was broadcast live.
