One of the tankers was being repaired in the port on the Lena River, and the second was transporting 832 tons of gasoline, some of which fell into the water. A state of emergency has been introduced in the Kirensky district.

The incident occurred on June 12 near Alekseevsk, Kirensky district. The tanker TR-900 "Erofey Khabarovsk", carrying gasoline, ran into another ship that was under repair.

As a result of the collision, the tank burst, which contained 138 tons of fuel. Part of it fell into the river - exactly how much was not reported, but apparently it was enough to introduce an emergency regime in the region, although at first the governor of the region, Igor Kobzev, reported on the measures being taken: in particular, the crew immediately started pumping gasoline into an undamaged tank and installed a boom around the vessel. For this, 300 kg of sorbent was used.

But since the river is navigable and there are settlements downstream, local authorities have begun to work to prevent water from being drawn from the river.

In connection with the accident, a pre-investigation check is being carried out on the grounds of crimes provided for by two articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on violation of traffic safety rules and operation of inland water transport and Art. 246 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on violation of the rules of environmental protection in the course of work.

According to the results of the check, it turned out that the captain of the tanker was drunk, and therefore "let his assistant steer", who ran into another vessel. This was reported by the press service of the government of the region. It also became known that from 60 to 90 tons of AI-92 could get into the water area, and now the oil slick has passed a number of settlements. By order of the governor of the region, working groups have been created in them, which will inform the population about the ban on the use of water from the river.
