Environmental activists painted the waters of Venice's Grand Canal green (3 photos + 2 videos)

Water has turned green in Venice's famous Grand Canal. Townspeople publish in social networks an emerald green spot near the famous bridge Rialto.

Eco-activists have reached the Italian pearl. This time Venice suffered from their hands and lack of brains: the famous The Grand Canal suddenly turned green and nature is not at all to blame.

The prefect called an emergency meeting with the police to investigation of the origin of the incident, but according to the preliminary version fluorescein sodium salt was poured into the water by environmental activists, reports AP news.

Local gondoliers say they saw a group of Norwegians throwing paint briquettes from the side of two boats.

Environmentalists are also interested in the incident.

There is an investigation.

This is not the first time that the Grand Canal has suffered from the so-called "environmentalists".

In 1968 Argentine artist Nicolás García Uriburu also dyed his water green with fluorescent paint during 34th Venice Biennale to boost environmental awareness.
