There are so many amazing and unknown things in our world. IN In Singapore, scientists have found a new type of flying cockroach and named it in honor of the bug-like Pokémon.
From 2016 to 2017, scientists in Singapore found unusual cockroaches. The origin of this species remained a mystery until Fu Maosheng did not study it in detail. Entomologist together with his colleague Christian Lucañas for several years did not find any records of these cockroaches in Singapore.
Entomologists have proven to be big fans of Pokémon. They came up with a new name for the cockroach - Nocticola pheromosa, in honor of pokemon Pheromos.
Here is Fu Maosheng's choice of name:
My colleague and I love Pokemon, so we thought why not don't name a cockroach after a Pokémon created by artists inspired by the cockroach. I can compare myself to a Pokémon trainer. I I travel around countries, looking for new creatures, studying them. And our website The Biodiversity of Singapore is a kind of Pokedex.
In general, it must be said that cockroaches are very important, but because of their reputation and appearance, many do not want to study them.
