Nobody believed, but he waited!





Westminster Abbey hosted the first in 70 years coronation of an English monarch. Having gone through all the ceremonies and rituals, Charles III officially became king.



A crown was placed on the head of the 74-year-old son of Elizabeth II St. Edward's, which is said to have been made in 1661.

As befits a coronation ceremony, which is more than one hundred years, everything passed decorously and magnificently, with a bunch of guests and onlookers. Traditionally, before the coronation of the monarch, they were introduced to the people gathered in the abbey.





The coronation, we recall, took place 8 months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.








Charles III was sworn in at his coronation as the new ruler of the United Kingdom.

The footage below shows the anointing ceremony known as the Act of Consecration.

The archbishop dips two fingers in holy oil and smears the monarch's arms, chest and head. The tradition is said to date back to Old Testament, which describes the anointing of Solomon by the priest Zadok and the prophet Nathan.

In Westminster Abbey, where the coronation took place, an ampoule and the spoon used by the Archbishop during the anointing is called the “most important” items used in the ceremony. These items been used for hundreds of years, and the spoon was first registered in 1349. This is the only work of the royal jeweler, preserved from the 12th century.

After the coronation, Charles III ascended the throne and took oaths for loyalty from clergy, peers, and one's own family.

There were no protests either. At least 19 members the Just Stop Oil movement, which opposes oil and gas production, detained by the police. Eco-activists on the route of the carriage with Charles III held signs saying "Not my king" and chanted anti-monarchist slogans.

Well, without the "traditional" chants, too.
