Scottish runner cheated at the competition, driving part of the way, and won a bronze medal (3 photos)
Four kilometers of the track, she did not run, but rode. A friend brought me.
Scottish athlete stripped of bronze medal for 80 km ultramarathon, held in early April. Runners competed on the Manchester - Liverpool track, and Joasia Zakszewski part overcame the path by driving a car. This became clear after the data for each athlete was uploaded to a special application for running and cycling. It turned out that on one of the segments the runner reached a maximum speed of 56 km/ h. At the same time, the famous runner Usain Bolt once clocked up to 44.72 km/ h, which is a speed record.
The result in the competitions of the 47-year-old athlete was annulled, and her case was transferred to the Athletics Federation Great Britain. Third place was given to Mel Sykes, who was frustrated by what happened. "How can one who knows that he has deceived, cross the finish line, get a medal and be photographed with trophy?!" she wonders.
Zakszewski's friend reports that she is in the country to participate in marathon, the athlete flew in from Australia and after a long flight didn't feel very well. She must have run difficult, so she went to the deception. By the way, a few weeks ago Zakszewski won the 48-hour 410 km race on Taiwan. Just wondering: was the win fair there?
