Doppelgangster: the guy got out of prison, posing as a cellmate who was supposed to be released (3 photos)
A prisoner convicted of drug dealing took advantage of his striking resemblance to a cellmate whom should have been released, and calmly got out of prison instead of him - men were so similar that the guards did not even suspect anything, and a real liberated one was sleeping peacefully at that time and could not protest.
Brian Francisco Roman, 26, of Longview, Washington, escaped from the Cowlitz County Jail posing as his cellmate, and the prison guards believed him. The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office stated that the two men have "similar physical features".
According to the sheriff's office, when the officers entered the cell, "everyone three prisoners were sleeping in the cell.” Roman woke up hearing the name cellmate, and “introduced himself to this prisoner and, together with the staff correctional institution went to be released from custody.
Roman, who ended up in prison for drug dealing, turned out to be smart enough to forge his cellmate's signature on release documents. After that, the correctional officers institutions gave Roman “clothes, keys and wallet [of his cellmate], in which had an ID and a debit card.”
Roman lit up on grainy surveillance footage when he was released: he was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, low pulled down over his eyes, gray sweatpants and slippers.
“The correctional officers did not realize that freed the wrong prisoner until the victim prisoner called them, to find out when it should be released, ”said in a press release Deputy Chief of CID Troy Brightbill.
After that, the guards contacted the police to find Roman, who remained free all day until he was taken again taken into custody April 18. On Thursday morning he was transferred back to Coulitz from D.C. prison, Sheriff Brad Thurman told DailyMail.com.
Romana was charged with second-degree escape. impersonating another person, forging documents, as well as stealing a second and third degree.
