14 sad photos of how the Dead Sea disappears (15 photos)
Perhaps it will soon disappear forever: the Dead Sea becomes less and less every year. Scientists have long sounded the alarm, but so far It is very difficult to restore this unique reservoir.
Every year the blue water recedes a meter from its shores, leaving behind an amazing lunar landscape of white salt. Gone a little more than half a century, and during this time the sea has decreased by a third. The reservoir is fed only by the Jordan River, as well as several small rivers, which create more backwaters and swamps along the coast.
The landscape here is amazing, where turquoise water merges with sand, layers of salt crunching underfoot, and little blue backwaters. And add to this amazing beauty karst failures, who also look impressive, although they are witnesses impending environmental catastrophe.
