A skier rescued a snowboarder who fell into a snow well
Mountains don't care how much skill or experience you have. They don't care if you do everything right.
This story took place in Mount Baker ski resort (Washington, USA). A group of snowboarders were riding on a local slope, they planned their way through the trees and were supposed to meet after them. This was not the first such walk in this area, but this time something went wrong.
At what point snowboarder Jan Steger fell into a snow well *, he himself did not understand. But the fact that without outside help he would not be able to get out, the man realized immediately.
“One of the things I thought about while I was there was like, ‘wow, like, I’m going to die here,’” Steger will say a little later.
But fortunately for him, he did not have to die in snow captivity for long, the skier Francis Zuber was descending the same slope, so he noticed a board sticking out of the snow. The guy was not taken aback and immediately began to dig out the snowboarder from the snow trap, periodically asking if he could hear him.
In the end, he manages to reach the snowboarder's face and hear the man buried under the snow take a deep breath.
He says, "Thank you," to which Zuber replies, "Yes, no problem."
The video about the rescue instantly went viral, collecting a huge number of comments and likes. Well, Zuber can safely celebrate his second birthday.
*Tree wells, also known as spruce traps, occur when the area under a tree does not receive as much snow as the surrounding area, resulting in a sinkhole.
