In the Yukon Territory, Canadian paleontologists have discovered a well preserved squirrel, which is about 30,000 years old. Squirrels are good wool, skeleton and even paws have been preserved.

This hairball is actually a mummified squirrel curled up in a ball. Scientists have determined that it is about 30,000 years old. The animal is surprisingly well preserved: the remains of wool are visible, the skeleton perfectly visible. Even the paws of the squirrel can be seen.

Where is the nut?

X-rays of the remains show that the animal was young and probably was in the first year of hibernation when it died, but, according to experts, the cause of death is still unknown.

The squirrel was found back in 2018. They decided to show the find to the world now, because an exhibition is planned at the local museum - the Center Yukon-Beringia interpretations.
