This is a brand new De Tomaso P72, possibly the most beautiful hypercar in the world. The P72 is a tribute to the racing P70 Sports of the 60s and a work of art designed to shake up the supercar industry.

In May 2003, Alejandro de Tomaso, Argentine race car driver and entrepreneur who started building own automobile empire in Italy in the late 60s. under the wing De Tomaso Automobili, which produced sports and luxury cars with Ford engines, including the famous Pantera, in the 70s got such companies like Maserati, Innocenti, Ghia, Vignale, Moto Guzzi and Benelli. However, after the death of the founder, the brand collapsed.

In the summer of 2004, De Tomaso went bankrupt. In later years the De Tomaso plant and the rights to the brand changed hands. While among other things, the brand's first SUV and a new version were offered Pantera, but none of these projects came to fruition. In 2014 the brand finally passed to the Chinese Ideal Team Ventures. Five years later, on its 60th anniversary, De Tomaso showed at the Festival speed at Goodwood its brand new model - a nostalgic coupe codenamed P72.

The revival of De Tomaso was carried out after being attracted to new project of the team of specialists from the Apollo Automobil plant, created by Chinese investors after the acquisition of the German Gumpert. under construction car participated, including the German HWA, with which Apollo started cooperation a few years earlier.

The name of the new car was a reference to the De Tomaso P70 mid-60s with a Ford engine that was developed in collaboration with Carroll Shelby. The body of the P72 refers to the racing prototypes of the same period, in which you can easily see echoes old Ferrari or Alfa Romeo models. As with the Apollo models, The P72 was designed by London-based Wyn Design. The cabin is dominated polished brass details and diamond patterns on the metal and upholstery.

The power plant was also borrowed directly from the Apollo IE. Prototype P72 with right hand drive, which made several demonstrations races at Goodwood, equipped with a 6.3-liter V12 petrol engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission Hewland. The engine has 790 hp and is from a Ferrari F140.

A few months after the debut of the P72, it was announced that in the serial version, following the example of their ancestors, will be a Ford engine and Manual Transmission. It will be a V8 engine from the family Coyote five liters with a compressor that is for De Tomaso prepared by the American company Roush. Specifications: over 700 hp and more than 820 Nm of torque.

A number of pre-production prototypes hit the road and test tracks in 2022, and in the fall, several impressively finished cars. Model production was limited to 72 vehicles priced at least $1.35 million every. The first cars should be handed over to owners in 2023.
