The host of the Belgian show for children decided to entertain the audience with a flamethrower live
Belgian TV presenter Maureen Vanherberghen accidentally shot herself with a flamethrower on live television. The incident occurred during an awards ceremony for the Ketnet children's channel. A fragment of the broadcast, where the presenter set herself on fire, was published on YouTube.
In the video, Vanerbergen can be seen raising her flamethrower to fire upwards, but suddenly flames engulf her clothes and hair. Co-hosts run up to her and help put out the fire. After that, she puts on goggles, picks up a flamethrower again and shoots at the ball, where the sign with the winner of the nomination is hidden.
One of the users of the social network Twitter admired the fact that Vanerbergen was not at a loss because of what had happened and continued to lead the ceremony. “My endless respect to Maureen who, despite the fire incident, remains a professional,” she wrote. Another user disagreed with her. “What kind of respect are we talking about here? What the hell is a flamethrower doing in a children's program?" he protested.
The TV presenter herself later said that she was not injured in the fire, and added that she tried to remain calm on stage.
