The amazing sport of limbo skating and how it conquered Indian children.

We all know a fun game when you need to go under crossbar: it is actively played both at children's holidays and at adult parties. This activity has a name - limbo, from English word limber, which means "flexible". The birthplace of this game considered Trinidad and Tobago: once this dance was traditionally performed on funeral.

Later, the lesson became a hallmark in the Caribbean pool, so both locals and tourists actively play limbo.

This is quite fun: to rhythmic music you need to pass under crossbar, which each time falls lower and lower. However, in the twentieth century, this dance was greatly complicated by adding to it ... roller skates.

John Merlin, who invented roller skates, would probably have been very surprised if he knew how his invention is used. It is not known who decided to combine dance and roller skates, but the sport known as limbo skating, is popular all over the world, especially in India. Competitions are regularly held here, and it is very impressive. event.

The idea is about the same as in the dance: on roller skates to drive under crossbar, which with each successful passage falls lower and lower below. To participate in such an action, a good stretch is necessary, because you can only pass an obstacle in a cross split. Sometimes athletes sink so low that their face literally touches earth.

But the main art of this sport lies in passing one obstacle, but several at once, standing one behind the other. In India this entertainment is so popular that athletes pass not only under sports equipment, but also under cars. There is even one associated with it. from the records: for example, Gagan Satish drove under 39 cars in less than in thirty seconds. For this achievement, he trained for three years.

Adults have a hard time with limbo skating, so most record holders are children. In India, sports are played in mostly children from five to fifteen years old: they have excellent flexibility, in addition they are small enough to drive under record low altitudes. So, the youngest and most successful athletes manage to ride in the twine under crossbar raised to a height of 15 centimeters. Below is an impressive videos of such achievements.

Sristi became one of the most famous Indian athletes Shrama: at the age of 11, she set the first record by riding 25 meters under crossbars 17 cm high. Also, the girl at one time belonged to the record for the lowest skiing: she passed a 10-meter obstacle 16.6 cm high. However, this figure was beaten in 2015: young athlete Shishir Kamdi managed to pass under crossbars 16.2 cm high.
