Serbian nightclub sinks during New Year celebrations

The fashion for rafting (clubs on the water) in Serbia arose a few years ago. Old river platforms, barges, landing stages - everything is used when you need to make an unusual entertainment establishment. But sometimes, old buildings do not withstand new life and go to the bottom. This is exactly what happened on New Year's Eve with the Freestyle nightclub.

In Belgrade, the famous water club Freestyler decided that it was necessary to say goodbye to 2022 in a spectacular way, and sank during the celebration of the New Year.

Eyewitnesses said that half of the platform on which the nightclub was located went under water. Some visitors left the premises in horror, standing knee-deep in water. Others climbed onto tables and sofas.

The establishment began to sink a few minutes after the onset of 2023. According to eyewitnesses, this could happen because the guests celebrated the holiday too actively.

“People tried to get out and jump over each other, there were no instructions from the guards <…> there was only one exit, it’s not safe for emergencies,” said one of the visitors to Freestyle.

According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, only one girl received minor injuries.
