Argentina players had to be evacuated by helicopter because of fans

About four million people came to meet the football players who returned from Qatar. The jubilation of the crowd in Buenos Aires was so bright and emotional that the bus with the players just got stuck in a sea of people.

The fans blocked the streets, the open-top bus, on which the national team players rode, could not move and did not reach the city center, because the players had to be evacuated by helicopters.

The decision to evacuate the players in police helicopters was made by the head of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), Chiki Tapia, who announced it on his Twitter page.

As for the fans, there were many injuries in the crowd, and two people even died. One was entangled and suffocated due to the flag, which was wrapped around the neck while moving the fan on a motorcycle. The second unfortunate fell from the roof, dancing a victory dance for the glory of the team. In addition, the police detained 13 people at the Obelisk, the end point where the parade of football players was heading (but never arrived). Hooligans somehow managed to get inside the monument, and one even climbed to its very top - this zealous fan had to be evacuated with the help of firefighters.
