Moroccan fans celebrate the victory of their home team with the defeat of Brussels
After the Moroccan team defeated the Belgians 2-0 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, compatriots distraught with happiness staged riots in Brussels. The police were forced to use water cannons and tear gas.
Sports fans are by no means languid creatures. Their favorite team loses - they fall into despair and create game. Wins - they do the same, but already because of delight.
Yesterday, Sunday, November 27, the media reported on the victory of the Moroccan team, which met at the El Tumama stadium in Doha with the Belgian team. At the end of the match, the Moroccans moved up to first place in Group F with four points, while the Belgians fell to second place with three points.
After that, riots began on the streets of Brussels, and videos and photos of what Moroccan fans were doing appeared on social networks. It all started with fireworks and slogans, and ended with broken cars and shop windows.
Due to the riots, the movement of trams and the subway was stopped, and the police were forced to use water cannons and tear gas to calm the raging thugs.
The mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close, asked the fans to leave the city center so that law enforcement officers could restore order. The police had to cordon off the central part of the Belgian capital.
