Train with burning cars in Etten Lehr

In Etten-Leur, a fire broke out on a freight train carrying dozens of hybrid vehicles. Several train cars caught fire, a lot of smoke came out.



The fire started early in the day, just after 15:00. In a fire that engulfed several trains, at least twenty cars caught fire. No harm done.

According to ProRail, the fire was caused by exposed wires in the train. How this could happen is not yet known.

Due to the incident, trains between Breda and Rosendal are no longer running today. NS uses buses. According to ProRail, it is still too early to tell if train services can be resumed.
