History and heritage are important to automotive companies, especially for brands like Bugatti. Founded by Ettore Bugatti, French the brand has been producing sports cars since the beginning of the last century, and five of them were in the hands of an avid collector.
Bugatti completed a deal to buy five historical cars from the collector Hans Matti. Among them are cars driven by famous racing driver Louis Chiron and son founder of the French brand Jean Bugatti.
They persuaded the collector to transfer rarities to the factory museum for two years. half a year, and the granddaughter of Ettore Bugatti joined the negotiations Caroline. Among the rarities that have changed their habitat, there are, for example, Bugatti Type 51. It was on this car that Louis Chiron raced in early 1930s.
The personal car of Jean Bugatti himself (son of the founder of the brand Ettore) is a Bugatti Type 49. It can be recognized by the initials JB on doors. Three more rarities are the original Type 37A, Bugatti Type 35B and slightly modified Bugatti Type 35A, which also participated in racing.
Ex-owner of rarities Hans Matti, in addition to owning cars, collected historical evidence of their biography - archival photographs, books, clippings from magazines. He is considered one of the world's leading experts on rare Bugatti sports models.
The cost of the transaction was not disclosed, but there is no doubt that the company had to shell out an astronomical amount.
It should be noted that the opposite situation was recorded in the spring: the company Mercedes sold to a private collector a unique car from its museum. However, in this case, the seller's motivation is known.
Coupe Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut sold for 135 million euros (this made the rarity the most expensive car in the world), and the proceeds the company will spend the funds on social and charitable projects.
