In the spring of 1942, the 2nd Shock Army of the Volkhov Front under the command of General A.A. Vlasov was surrounded. This event went down in the history of the Great Patriotic War under the name “Volkhov Cauldron”, and the place where the bloody battles took place is called the “Valley of Death”.
