The tallest tower in Russia (20 photos)
This is an inactive television tower 350 meters high and the tallest abandoned structure in Russia.
There are 5 such towers in total. It's taller than the Eiffel Tower.
And of course, higher than the famous Yekaterinburg Abandon - an unfinished television tower 298 meters high.
The tower has been abandoned for more than 10 years, but next year it will be excluded from this category.
It was built in the 90s. A tower with six guy wires, a boiler room, a substation, and a building for equipment and personnel were completed turnkey. But as usual in our country, first they break everything and then rebuild it, and that happened with this tower. A couple of years ago, even the alarm lighting and cable were taken away from it. It’s not interesting to inspect the ground-based structures, so we climb up.
It's easy to climb up to the first stretch. The stairs are dry, there is practically no wind. Having risen just above the second stretch (in the photo), a fairly strong wind begins.
At the third stretch level, the temperature drops and the steps are slightly covered with ice. You can still see quite well down. Particularly attentive people will notice two people.
In the area of the fourth tripwire, clouds begin to float through the tower. The lens cap flies down somewhere. The steps are completely covered with ice.
You feel tired, your hands are frozen, and your backpack and camera are in the way. The ascent speed is greatly reduced.
At the level of the fifth stretch, almost everything is already covered with a thick layer of frozen snow. We have to be careful. The earth has not been visible through the clouds for a long time.
Each subsequent flight seems like an eternity. It is difficult to see the nearest stretch mark, which is the only landmark in these clouds. And finally I get to the last, sixth stretch. You understand that it’s more than 300 meters down there. And to the top there is a metal pipe another 15 meters high and an internal staircase. There is pitch darkness inside and in the middle there is a transition from one staircase to another with a missing step. This is not the place for those suffering from claustophobia.
Vertex. The strongest wind. Zero visibility.
Very cold.
The feeling of being in another dimension.
You can look down and look at the main platform. It is difficult to distinguish the cables of the sixth guy wire.
Having descended back to the central platform, the low clouds began to disappear. It's time to look down. Scary, right? If you jump with a parachute, you will have exactly 7 seconds of free flight.
It's not that interesting to look around. Standard view from an airplane during landing :)
Better look down again (original)
And now with the comments. Two cars, a person and the point of attachment of the sixth guy wire. Those who are especially attentive will easily find another person.
Large field. Those who are especially curious can calculate the area of the field using data on the average height of the forest.
Clouds float directly overhead.
Let's look down again and go down. The climb up the tower took about two hours, and the descent took one hour.
Now the entire tower is visible from below.
Let's step aside a little and compare the height of the tower with known high-rise buildings.
