Saving a baby squirrel changed the life of the whole family (19 photos)

In 2007, a family from Finland came across an unusual discovery along the road - a bright red spot that did not move. Coming closer, people saw that it was a small squirrel. The animal was lying on the side of the road and did not react to passing cars and people. The baby was alive, but unconscious. She was taken to the vet. The family got so used to it and loved the squirrel that after long treatment they decided to keep the animal.

According to the head of the family, they could not release the squirrel because its eye was not healing. In the wild, the animal would definitely not be able to survive on its own.

Keeping the squirrel with you was a logical and optimal decision. In addition, the animal has become accustomed to its new home.

The animal was given the name Arttu. So, the family got a new pet.

When they were choosing a name for the animal, everyone unanimously decided that Arttu was a name that would show the real character of the animal. Arttu is the Finnish version of the name Arthur.

The little squirrel turned out to be very playful and active. His favorite game was a duel with hands. However, the animal never bit or scratched painfully.

Another hobby of the squirrel was hide and seek. The animal constantly climbed into pockets and hoods and fell asleep there. Children especially loved finding such a gift in the morning.

Arttu ate nuts, fruits and mushrooms.

After some time living together, the family realized that the choice was right. The animal became very accustomed to its owners and spent a lot of time with them. With the appearance of the squirrel, love and joy reigned in the house.

The squirrel often curled up and slept in her arms.

While walking in open areas, the little squirrel climbed the tallest trees. At these moments it was necessary to watch him especially carefully so as not to lose sight of him. If the animal were lost, it would die in the wild. But Arttu always returned.

Every walk ended with trophies. mostly pine cones.

When the Christmas tree was put up in the house, not only the children, but also the baby squirrel enjoyed it. The animal's joy knew no bounds. ????

The little squirrel spent a lot of time on the tree, but was careful.

Caring for a pet also required some effort.

So, the family was periodically forced to trim the animal’s claws, because they did not grind down on their own.

Arttu was very good with people. One got the impression that the animal was simply created for living in a house, next to a person.

Unfortunately, the life expectancy of squirrels is not very long. 6 years after the rescue, people found the baby squirrel dead. It seems that the animal simply fell asleep.

It was very difficult to come to terms with the loss. However, the baby squirrel gave this family so much joy and love, for which people are still grateful. They buried the animal in the forest, where they regularly bring treats for other inhabitants of the forest.

So, one chance meeting in the forest turned the lives of an entire family and one little rescued white upside down.
