A tricky trick by a German goalie forced the hockey rules to change
David Leggio forced the second league to change the rules.
At the beginning of the month, David Leggio became an Internet star: the American, playing for Munich, thwarted the attack of his opponent from Bremerhaven (5:2) in an original way.
When it seemed that the puck would inevitably hit the goal, the goalkeeper simply moved it. The judges ordered a shootout, and Leggio successfully dealt with it.
A few years ago, David already performed such a trick in the AHL. Then the league leadership changed the rules, decreeing that the tricksters should be removed until the end of the match.
In Germany, the changes turned out to be even more severe: from now on, if the goalkeeper disrupts a one-on-one situation by moving the goal or removing the mask, a goal will automatically be awarded to the opposing team.
It is worth noting that Leggio is included in the preliminary composition of the US national team for the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, and in the rules of the International Hockey Federation, only a shootout is assigned in case of a deliberate shift in the goal.
