Experiment. How small a hole can a mouse fit through?
An American carpenter decided to determine a hole whose diameter would be inaccessible to a mouse and built a special device with bait, which he then left in the barn. The mouse crawled into a hole with a diameter of 17.5 mm, and a shrew that looked in later managed to squeeze into a hole with a diameter of 17 mm!
