What does a premature baby girl look like now, weighing 669 grams at birth (12 photos)
"Imagine a 600ml bottle of cola. That's the same size my daughter was," says mother Rachel Crowther, who was born at 24 weeks pregnant and weighed just 669g. Although doctors prepared the family for the worst, the girl survived. The little fighter will soon celebrate his 10th birthday!
Rachel was born in Australia in 2007. According to her mother, Rhonda, 45, she was so tiny that "Daddy could put his wedding ring on her foot, and her head was the size of a tennis ball."
Little Rachel was born 16 weeks early due to placental abruption. When the girl was born, doctors prepared the parents for the worst - and reported that the baby's chances of survival were only 5%.
“My maternal instinct awakened in me, and I was sure that Rachel would survive,” says the girl’s mother. “We weren’t allowed to touch her for two weeks. But when I held her in my arms for the first time, I was in shock. I remember how I looked at this little red creature for a long time."
“Everything is as it should be” - Rachel’s mother constantly repeated this phrase to herself. The baby was discharged after 4 months in the hospital. At the age of 19 months, she underwent several heart surgeries.
Now Rachel is a healthy, active, happy child! She loves to play sports and cook. She is one of the excellent students at school!
Racheal celebrated her birthday at the hospital where doctors saved her life 10 years ago.
To all parents of premature babies, Mrs. Crowther advises: “Ask as many questions as possible. Be persistent until you get the answers you need. This is a sad and at the same time amazing experience for me. After 10 years, I am happy to show the world our story, the story of what Rachel went through and what she became."
