After terrible service, this couple made a nice gift for the harassed waiter
We've all experienced terrible service at a restaurant, whether it's our first visit or a favorite place. This is exactly what the married couple Mackenzie and Stephen Schultz from Cedar Rapids (USA) faced when they decided to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary in a restaurant. Instead of a romantic dinner, they received "pretty disgusting" service. However, the service turned out to be terrible - they had to wait more than an hour for their main order to arrive. Most of the visitors, without waiting for their order, simply got up and left hungry. But this couple did something completely amazing.
No, they didn't leave with dissatisfaction. This sweet couple left the waiter a whopping $100 tip...
But what is the reason for such an unexpected act?
Mackenzie explained everything on her Facebook page:
“The service today was terrible. We waited 20 minutes for water, 40 minutes for appetizers, and sat for more than an hour waiting for the main order. People around have already started making fun of the restaurant and such poor service. It's true, it really was terrible. But the fault for all this was the lack of staff in the establishment, and not the poor work of the waiter. He ran around the entire hall like crazy and never once was rude to anyone. We watched him and estimated that he was serving 12 tables and the bar at the same time. Few people can cope with this! I watched him run around the room and apologize for the long wait, and then I said to Stephen: “But we were once the same... We waited on a lot of tables... I don’t miss all this at all, and I never liked this kind of work. I did all this just for tips.” Stephen and I decided to do something nice for this waiter, since he would probably end up without a tip due to the slow service. We left before he saw the check. I decided to post this as a reminder to everyone to understand and think things through before judging anyone. And always, always, always remember who you once were.”
“We were both in your shoes once,” the couple wrote on the check. Such a generous gesture is truly worthy of respect!
