“Prisoner of the Caucasus, or Shurik’s New Adventures” - a 1967 film by the legendary director L. Gaidai, is known to everyone, it is memorized, it is part of our genetic memory. The cinematic masterpiece has been dissected and studied frame by frame by many in an attempt to understand how great films are made.
There is no point in retelling the story of the creation of the film, so as not to include the glorious cohort of YAP musicians and wonderful topics about “Prisoner of the Caucasus” already exist, and on Tyrnet-ru there is everything about the film mistakes of this film.
It’s the latter that got me interested. I looked at a bunch of sites with videos and photographs on this topic (a fascinating activity, by the way) and wondered:
“- Has everything been found and will I be able to find something missed by others?”
I thought logically, recalled the episodes of the film, figured out where the treasure-treasure might be hidden and, through incredible tension of the thinking gray matter locked in a cramped cranium, came to the conclusion - NINA’S ABDUCTION, CHASE AND RESCUE OF NINA. Agree, the film’s quite long, dynamic and intense line cannot be shot in one day.
(Be patient with 17 photos with comments and 1 of my finds)
1. The broken glass of a nurse sometimes gets better...
2. Not only the painted backdrop is clearly visible, but also the shadow of the microphone on Natalya Varley’s back.
3. Again the shadow from the microphone
4. Shurik takes off his shoes before getting into the sleeping bag, but after swimming, his shoes come back. 5. Nina’s T-shirt turns from striped to white
6. The peephole in the wall also disappears after use.
7. One can only envy the captive’s appetite - she can eat so much in just a couple of minutes of the song.
8. The kick marks disappear in the next frame.
9. During the chase, Vitsin’s hero not only manages to re-tie his tie, but also take off and put on his suspenders again to use them when throwing cucumbers
10. They throw one cucumber, and another one flies into Shurik’s mouth... also with a special rope for pulling it out
11. A wild bear walks through the mountains wearing a collar
12. The bear jumps up, apparently at the command of the trainer, a tasty treat is thrown behind him, he turns around and goes in search of it.
13. Fish! Yes, there are only two 5-4 dominoes on the table.
14. Sweat stains walk across the T-shirt from frame to frame
15. At the very beginning of the film, two members of the film crew enter the frame.
16.An even number of flowers for a first romantic date and Soviet champagne (white)
17. Is it okay that he came out covered in red wine?!
And here is my discovery - how during the chase, who re-tied Nina and when?
Pay attention to the vertical and horizontal skeins of rope in relation to each other on Nina in photos 1 and 2, and take a closer look at the knot.
