Newborn liger cubs: cubs of a white lion and a white tigress
Lion Ivory and tigress Saraswati: an amazing couple
Lions and tigers, of course, belong to different cats, but sometimes they can form a good union together. And if it is a white lion and a white tigress, then the likelihood that such a pair will appear at all and also leave offspring is simply extremely low. There are only about 1,200 white tigers and 300 white lions left in the world. So when, in 2014, a white lion named Ivory and a white tigress named Saraswati formed an alliance - it was quite an event.
They met at Myrtle Beach Safari in South Carolina
Myrtle Beach Safari is a sanctuary for rare animals, which also include white lions and tigers. This is a unique place where visitors can see rare specimens up close.
Two of these rare animals have given birth
In 2014, Saraswati gave birth to four little liger cubs! Half lions, half tigers - they are very cute and they are the only ones in the whole world! There are only about 1,000 ligers in the world, and these are white.
These little liger cubs are so cute
Their names are: Yeti, Odlin, Sampson and Apollo and each of them is unique.
Apollo is the cutest
Apollo is the most cunning. He always begs to be stroked or caressed.
Yeti is the biggest prankster
The Yeti loves to frolic and chew on its brothers.
Little prankster
Such rare little cuties
Oh. My heart melts just looking at them. So cute!
These little ones will grow up big and strong.
At six weeks old, each already weighed almost 7 kilograms and they are growing very quickly, gaining about 400 grams per day. It's possible that one day they will become the biggest cats in the world!
Their uncle, Hercules, currently holds the world record for being the largest cat in the world!
In fact, the uncle of these liger cubs, Hercules, is the largest living feline in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records he weighs almost 420 kilograms! The reserve's veterinarians say that these cubs will most likely weigh no less, or even more, than their uncle. In fact, ligers are amazing animals!
