How a mosquito sting works (8 photos)
The object of observation is a mosquito, a common mosquito. It is clear that females feed on plant juices (to maintain life) and blood (for the development of eggs), and the male feeds exclusively on plant juices (vegan in short). This is not about that now, the subject of consideration is the sting of the female mosquito-human system.
Proboscis.
Directly "caused".
This is the proboscis (modified lower lip) and the most massive element of the oral apparatus.
The lower lip forms a sheath,
containing the main nasty thing - the main toolkit for piercing and sucking blood out of you.
At the end of the lower jaw there is a pair of sensitive lobes called labella:
Be afraid, everything is thought out!
That's not all (sinister laughter is heard)
The main parts hidden by the lower lip: the upper and lower jaws. They are elongated piercing organs, sharp at the end - with them the insect pierces our skin
Of course, next to the lower and upper jaws it is located - the sucking tube.
Few people escape from them, they are everywhere, there are legions of them. Well, since you’ve been bitten, do you know why a mosquito bite causes itching?
One of the lobes of the mosquito's salivary gland secretes a poisonous fluid that runs along the tongue and is injected into you. The purpose of this fluid is to prevent blood clotting. This is what causes the itching.
