A week ago, the cruise ship Costa Concordia ran aground near the island of Isola del Giglio, Italy. Of the more than 4,200 people on board, 11 were declared dead, 21 were still missing, and hopes of finding survivors were rapidly fading. Salvage efforts were delayed for a time due to fears that the ship could sink during worsening weather conditions. Captain Francesco Schettino remains under house arrest while prosecutors try to determine for sure what exactly happened and who is to blame for the sinking of the cruise ship. Rescuers have spent the last seven days trying to find survivors.
