In 1992, when the TAVKR was in the stage of completion afloat with a degree of technical readiness of about 70%, construction was stopped. In 1993, according to an agreement between Ukraine and Russia, “Varyag” went to Ukraine. Excluded from the lists of the fleet on June 30, 1993 and transferred to the ownership of ChSZ. Sold by Ukraine for scrapping to a company from Macau, towed away from Nikolaev on June 14, 2000. It stood for almost 1.5 years at the entrance to the Bosphorus due to Turkey’s refusal to allow the ship through the Black Sea straits.
