The Millau Viaduct (French le Viaduc de Millau) is a cable-stayed road bridge passing through the Tarn River valley near the city of Millau in southern France. It is the tallest transport bridge in the world, with one of its pillars measuring 341 meters high - slightly higher than the Eiffel Tower and just 40 meters lower than the Empire State Building. The bridge was inaugurated on December 14, 2004 and opened to traffic on December 16, 2004.
