This door weighs four tons—and every day at exactly 10 a.m., it literally disappears underground. It is located in a historic building at Florida 99 in Buenos Aires, where the famous Bank of Boston was once housed.
In the Edificio Tornquist building on Florida Street, 99, in Buenos Aires, there is a door weighing about 4 tons. Every morning, instead of opening outward, it sinks vertically into the ground.
Today, the building houses an ICBC Argentina branch, but the door itself holds the status of a national historic monument.
Modifying or dismantling it is prohibited by law, which is why it has remained virtually in its original form since 1928.
