Engineers from Canada have developed an air hockey-playing robot that is nearly impossible to beat.

To train, the system played thousands of virtual matches in a simulator, learning the nuances of the puck's movement—including rebounds off the rails and the impact of various factors on its trajectory. The developers claim the robot can simultaneously calculate multiple potential game scenarios and make decisions in mere milliseconds.
