A Rolls-Royce Phantom has been driven 775,000 km without major repairs (9 photos)
The luxury sedan's engine and transmission have never been overhauled, with only consumables replaced.
Rolls-Royce doesn't set a mileage limit for its free maintenance program, limiting it to four years, but then recommends owners have it checked every 16,000 km.
As a responsible car owner, the Liechtenstein resident tried to follow the manufacturer's recommendations, generously shelling out €3,000 each time for scheduled maintenance. However, he's driven significantly more than any other owner of this British brand's models: the current mileage on his 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom has reached 775,000 km.
The driver's philosophy is simple: cars are made for seeing the world, not sitting in underground parking garages. Before purchasing his new Rolls-Royce, he used other luxury cars in exactly the same way: he'd driven half a million km in a BMW 7 Series and over 1.1 million km in a Maybach 62! In other words, he's circled the globe 60 times in these three cars alone.
There was a time when he preferred to fly his own plane, not as a passenger, but as a pilot, but after doctors removed him from the controls due to his age, he was forced to travel in something more down-to-earth.
In his snow-white Phantom with the registration number FL 5215, rare even in Europe, the Liechtensteiner traveled across the continent from Scandinavia to Greece, and even visited Western Sahara. The heavy-duty roads left behind tiny chips in the paintwork.
The traveler experienced no breakdowns or serious technical issues during his long journeys: the twin-turbo 6.75 V12 and 8-speed ZF automatic transmission are still original, without major repairs. Incidentally, he refueled at regular gas stations and drove the mileage without the need for roadside assistance.
