Tourist Hospitalized for Buying Sausage from a Street Vendor (2 photos + 1 video)
Yuri Hwang flew to Chiang Mai, Thailand, for a vacation, but the Sydney, Australia, resident didn't expect to spend part of her vacation in a hospital bed.
The tourist bought a sausage from a street vendor, and the first bite seemed a little strange. But Yuri had never tried Thai street food, so she assumed the sausage was supposed to taste that way. A mistake. That night, the woman began experiencing abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. After struggling until morning, the tourist called a doctor, and the hospital diagnosed her with a serious condition: gastroenteritis caused by bacteria. A lengthy and rather expensive treatment followed.
Yuri, however, remained optimistic and declared that her love of experimentation would compel her to continue buying street snacks. Only now she would listen to her instincts, and if any food seemed strange, she would refrain from eating it, just in case.
