Woman met a puma on the trail
In the US, a tourist was descending a mountain and listening to a podcast when suddenly a cougar appeared in her path.
Courtney Rasura said that she came across a wild animal early in the morning on the Gridley trail in Los Padres. She was descending and listening to a podcast on her headphones when suddenly a cougar blocked her path. Rasura admitted that she did not expect to see it in this part of the forest: they usually do not go to places where people often go.
The woman knew that running was useless, so she decided to scare the cougar away and started screaming. “I really hoped that my scream would make it go away,” Rasura recalled. “It did, retreating into the bushes, but then returned to the trail again.”
Then the cougar looked at her and finally disappeared into the bushes. The tourist filmed all this on video.
Rasura noted that she has been going to Los Padres for 15 years and has never seen a cougar here before. "It was both an amazing and terrifying experience," she emphasized. The woman called herself lucky, but next time she decided to be more careful and take a special horn with her.
According to the US National Park Service, when meeting a predator, you should not panic, run away or approach it. If a mountain lion approaches a person, you should try to scare it with a loud noise and a wide posture. If this does not help, you can try throwing something at the animal. If it attacks, the only thing left to do is fight back.
