Another unusual skyscraper is being built in Midtown Manhattan: the 325-meter-tall The Torch. The 52-story project will be located on Eighth Avenue and will house a hotel complex with approximately 800 rooms, shops, and restaurants. The building's main feature is an observation deck at the top with a free-fall attraction: visitors will be lifted inside a "torch" and then lowered back down in a transparent capsule. The tower's architecture is inspired by the Statue of Liberty's torch and is expected to significantly change the Times Square skyline. Completion is scheduled for approximately 2027.
