A Ghost Village in Turkey (4 Photos + 1 Video)

There's an abandoned place in Turkey that resembles the set of a fantasy film. It's the Burj Al Babas, originally conceived as an elite community for wealthy foreigners. Hundreds of "mini-castles" with pointed turrets were built there.

They poured $200 million into the project, and at first, everything went well, but in 2018, due to the collapse of the lira, problems with contractors, and lawsuits with locals (who were unhappy with the deforestation and the "Disney-esque" architecture that spoiled the region's appearance), the developer went bankrupt.

Of the 732 planned villas, only 587 were partially completed—and they've stood in the middle of empty fields and hills ever since.

A ghost village in Turkey where mini-castles were built instead of houses, and no one lived in them.
