The most expensive Mercedes-Benz of the 1960s received the insides of the new Mercedes-AMG S 63 (6 photos)
S-Klub LA, a studio known for its radical Mercedes-Benz conversions, has published a video about its latest project, prepared for the recent SEMA show. The limousine, dubbed "The Final Boss," is an attempt to combine the looks of the iconic Mercedes-Benz W100 from the second half of the last century with the technical features of the current-generation Mercedes-AMG S 63.
The tuners essentially "slung" the body of a vintage Mercedes-Benz onto a modern chassis, but to combine these two components, they had to undergo significant redesign. For example, the W100 had to be significantly widened, including around the wheel arches. At the same time, the rarity was equipped with a bumper from a modern sedan, six headlights, and a large logo on the grille. Also added were unique side mirrors, huge HRE wheels, and a massive rear wing, complemented by a small spoiler at the junction of the roof and rear window.
The Final Boss's interior is entirely composed of S-Class components, but they had to be reconfigured, and not just to fit into a more compact space. The tuners wanted the modern details to be unobtrusive when viewing the car from the outside, so most of them are located below the window line. A custom installation was created for the trunk, which also serves as part of the sound system.
The custom car's hybrid powertrain is also borrowed from the AMG S 63, but like the other components, it was modified during installation. The combination of the V8 and electric boost on The Final Boss generates 1,000 hp and 1,355 Nm. S-Klub LA, however, did not specify the sedan's performance characteristics or its cost. Some estimates put the tuners' spend at least $800,000 on the project.
