30 Creepy and previously unknown creatures (3 photos + video)
Thirty terrifying and previously unknown creatures have been discovered in Antarctica! Among the discoveries are the predatory sponge Chondrocladia, nicknamed the "Death Ball" for its shape, the armored scale worm Eulagisca, and new species of starfish, crustaceans, and mollusks.
Osedax "zombie worms" were of particular interest—they have neither mouth nor intestines, but feed on the bones of dead whales and other vertebrates, breaking down the proteins with the help of bacteria living inside their bodies.
