An incredible phenomenon occurs every month on the Qiantang River: a 9-meter-high tidal wave rushes upstream. Locals call it the "Silver Dragon." A roar can be heard from the pier, and then BAM! – a gigantic wall of water and foam sweeps away everything in its path.
Thousands of tourists come every year to witness this spectacle, but standing too close is dangerous – the water can literally sweep you off your feet.
