A giant pumpkin weighing 1,064 kg was grown by a California engineer.
Brandon Dawson of Santa Rosa, California, won the 52nd World Pumpkin Weighing Championship in Half Moon Bay. The pumpkin he grew weighed the equivalent of a small sedan or a large bison.
Dawson won the $20,000 prize. He explained that he has been growing massive pumpkins for five years, using skills he learned on the job. He is a production engineer at electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian Automotive.
