Famous Italdesign studio is preparing a new model inspired by the Honda NSX
Italdesign has announced that it is working on a mysterious new model that will pay homage to the iconic Honda NSX. Very little is known at the moment, but reimagining one of Japan's most iconic sports cars will be a daunting task. Enthusiasts will certainly have their say if the result doesn't live up to expectations.
Official Announcement and Project Details
The Italian design firm announced its project on social media, posting an image with the Honda and NSX logos on a blue background, along with its own Italdesign logo. It seems that Honda has given official permission to create a new car from scratch, similar to what Lamborghini did with the Countach LPI 800-4 based on the Aventador. It is not yet known whether this model will be a one-off or a limited edition.
Inspiration from the first generation NSX
The Italdesign model is expected to pay homage to the first generation NSX, which showed the world that a powerful and fast sports car could also be reliable. The original NSX was developed in-house by Honda, but the 1984 concept version was designed by Pininfarina. The first generation remains relevant and could be the perfect basis for a modern interpretation.
This move by Italdesign could be important for preserving the NSX's legacy, especially considering that modern versions don't always live up to the expectations of classic fans. Collaboration between the Japanese manufacturer and the Italian atelier could bring a new perspective on technology and design, combining tradition with innovation. Such projects often become a bridge between eras, demonstrating how iconic models can find new life in a modern context.
