Now it's up to the "little things". According to Conor, now the Irish who want to see him at the head of the country must force the deputies to nominate him.
Outrageous ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor and big fan of fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov made an official address to the nation and declared his desire to become president of the country.
In his address, McGregor said it was time for change, promising that if elected, he would not sign any bill until it had been considered by the people of Ireland. He urged his potential voters to contact their local MPs and ask them to nominate him.
“People of Ireland, the time for real change is now. As President, I will not sign any bill into law until it has been put to the people first! If you want to see my name on the presidential ballot, I urge you to contact your local MPs today and ask them to nominate me. Our MPs are the backbone of our communities. They work harder and do more for the people than the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament) MPs who have failed this country time and time again,” McGregor said in his address.
In his address, MacGregor slammed the current Irish government, accusing it of depriving citizens of “peace of mind, security and hope for the future.” He said the government had refused to honour its proclamation that “all children should be cared for.” Instead, the number of Irish children homeless had reached “unprecedented levels.”
MacGregor has promised to secure Ireland’s borders, withdraw from the EU migration pact and deport what he calls “imported criminals.” He also wants to bring back a provision in the 1922 constitution that allows laws to be passed or vetoed by popular vote. This, he says, is true direct democracy.
On economic issues, MacGregor wants to redirect public funds from migrant benefits to hospitals, schools and housing. He also plans to tackle small business assistance and unfair tariffs. He has promised that if he becomes president, he will have the power to convene parliament, block incompetent leaders, while remaining incorruptible and immune from blackmail.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk has endorsed McGregor. The Irish presidential election is in a month and a half, on October 24. Candidates for president must receive nominations from 20 members of parliament or four county/city councils by September 24. It is unknown whether McGregor will have time to gather the necessary support. He has launched a petition demanding that these rules be changed, insisting that they block democratic participation. He has not received any public support from politicians since his announcement. Experts doubt his chances of winning the election because of the system's bias against famous figures.
