Women were supposed to ruin it: association of single men furious that they are led by a girl (3 photos)
Men in the UK are angry that a woman has been appointed head of the Men's Sheds association, which brings together lonely men and provides them with a place to socialise, learn and fulfil themselves.
Caroline Ellis has been appointed chief executive of a charity set up to encourage lonely men to come together to combat social isolation and improve their wellbeing.
"Angry men are furious that a woman has been appointed head of the Men's Sheds association," the article says.
Men claim women are 'crashed' into their gatherings.
In particular, Caroline promised to diversify Men's Sheds and called for mixed and female-only huts. After that, the guys noticed women popping up in their social media chats.
"Why can't men have something just for themselves? Men Sheds was about allowing men to have time together to be men. And demanding women were supposed to ruin that. Women should have their own same-sex space - and men should too," said one of the benefactors and sponsors of the "men's sheds" Nick Bailey.
"Men's Sheds... with women? Leave them. There's a reason they were created, which was for the support men could give each other when they didn't have to look tough in front of women (thanks society)," wrote one member of Men's Sheds.
The reporters highlighted that many women agreed that men should be left alone.
"Why are women barging into men's space, why can't you just leave men alone, create your own space, it's not a men's shed anymore and will ultimately alienate men," one author noted.
"Create "People's Sheds" if you must, but leave the men's ones alone. If women participate in them, then they are no longer men's sheds," added another.
