Interesting fact from the life of Antarctic penguins

Antarctic penguins are true masters of sleep. The birds have about 10,000 microsleeps per day.
Each microsleep lasts only four seconds, and during the day they accumulate the necessary 10-11 hours.
This mechanism developed in response to constant threats from predators: their brain can fall asleep with both hemispheres at once, or by turning off only one so that the other remains alert.
And during these seconds, penguins do not just doze, but plunge into a real slow-wave sleep - the one that the brain needs to rest.
