Crazy race of the worst drivers in the UK (5 photos + 1 video)

Devon and Cornwall Police have released dash cam footage of the UK's most reckless drivers. Dangerous driving, crossing solid lines, driving on the wrong side of the road and more. The launch of Snap has given people the ability to send anonymous messages and videos of traffic violations.

Over five years, traffic police have received more than 20,600 videos, including several instances of pedestrians and cyclists being hit.

One of the videos shows a situation that happened at a junction in Exeter. The driver of a van failed to give way to a cyclist, who was forced to drive onto the pavement where pub patrons were resting at the time. The offender was deprived of his driving licence for six months and ordered to pay a fine of £391, as well as cover other associated costs.

Adrian Leisk, head of road safety for Devon and Cornwall, said: “Police can’t be everywhere, so the public’s help is so important. The 20,000 online messages from concerned road users show that we all want to be safe on the roads of Devon and Cornwall. Anyone can witness how the road rules are not followed. Often, such behaviour puts people’s lives at risk. It is simply unacceptable. Providing video footage of such incidents through the Snap app allows police to take action and hold offenders accountable. We are committed to improving road safety in Devon and Cornwall and ultimately reducing the number of deaths and injuries."

Police Commissioner Alison Hernandez added: "I would like to thank everyone who took the time to send in footage - you are making a positive contribution to road user safety across the region. The 20,000 videos show that the public is working hard to help us. However, we would like to see the numbers go down as driving standards improve. This is about saving lives. In 2023, 48 people were killed and 702 seriously injured on Devon and Cornwall roads. We have committed to reducing road fatalities by 50% by 2030 and Snap plays a big part in that."
