Pre-war BMW 327 put up for auction in the US (50 photos)
After the defeat of the Kaiser's Germany, the Bavarian motor company switched to civilian products - motorcycles and cars. Of the four-wheeled vehicles, the two-door 327 model, launched in 1937 as a convertible, was the most popular, later joined by an all-metal coupe. 
Before the start of the next big war in Europe, the Eisenach plant managed to assemble almost 1,400 BMW 327s, one of which is being auctioned at Bring a Trailer. This is a 1938 convertible that was delivered to a doctor in Germany on Christmas Eve and then ended up in the hands of a collector in Boulder, Colorado sometime in the 1980s or 1990s.
What happened to this car over the course of almost half a century, what hands and countries it happened to be in, is unknown. It is mentioned that even today, the BMW 327 has been actively moving around the world. In the early 2000s, the car, which had lost its functionality, was purchased by the parents of the current owner, who sent it to Bavaria for restoration at the Freudenberger Classic center. The restoration was completed in 2012, after which the BMW 327 returned to the States.
The elegant convertible, finished in black and silver, is powered by an inline 6-cylinder engine with a volume of 1971 cc. cm, powered by a Solex carburetor and aggregated with a synchronized manual Volvo gearbox with overdrive. The interior of the 2+2 seating formula is upholstered in blue leather. The speedometer is marked up to 170 km/h, and the 5-digit odometer shows a mileage of 87 thousand km.
