Non-tourist Kenya or photographers are not welcome here (25 photos)

Kenya's national parks are incredibly picturesque: driving on a safari jeep, you can capture photos and videos of wild animals in free range, landscapes, sunsets and sunrises that take your breath away, like heaven on earth! Surely, you have already seen and are fed up with bright, like a postcard, pictures of lions, leopards and elephants on social networks.

But in Africa, there is another side - the life of ordinary people, which I came into contact with when I visited Kenya.

On the way to the national parks, which are hundreds of kilometers apart, I often had to interact with the local population. And, having seen their way of life, I thought with relief - it's good that I was born and live not in Africa! And here's why.

Most of the photos were taken by me on my phone from the jeep, since stopping and photographing the locals was dangerous and fraught with the loss of photo equipment, money and health. The locals have a negative attitude towards white people and photographers in particular. Kenyans, seeing that they are being photographed, can demand an impressive amount of money for each photo or force you to buy unnecessary goods at a huge price. Therefore, when we needed to make a stop, fill up the car, we completely hid the cameras and pretended to be disinterested.

From the pictures below, taken secretly, you can see how 99% of the country lives and looks.

The local population, mostly unemployed, wanders around the area all day, trying to find money or food by any means.

In addition to slackers, there are also individual entrepreneurs who, having taken on the risks, run "shops".

The "shops" for locals do not shine with a huge selection, here you will not find Pyaterochka, Auchan and other stores that we are used to.

A grocery store in Kenya is usually a wooden table with something edible on it.

Clothing is also available, but to find the right size and style, you need to rummage through a bunch of things.

There are richer shops - for sale techniques:

IN in large villages there are shopping arcades, but the assortment in them is the same as in roadside stalls

If you want to stop for the night in some village, you can find a hotel, but it will not meet your expectations. There is no sign of the usual hotel star classification here:

The reason for such poverty in the country is the low level of education of the local population. There are practically no schools in Kenya. In the villages that we visited with a guide-translator, local residents bragged that they had finally built a district school - the pride of the entire area.

The locals are distrustful and aggressive towards white people, they believe that foreigners are obliged to give them money, while most of the population does not want to work. Day after day, they choose fish, not a fishing rod.

I hope that in the future the country will be able to develop and the locals will become less aggressive, so that tourists can travel independently without fear for their lives. But for now, if you decide to visit Africa, it is best to travel only accompanied by a local driver-guide from a travel agency.
